It was Thursday, May 16, and I had come into the dealership to talk to my service advisor about a recall notice on the tailgate I had received on my existing 2022 GMC 3/4 ton Denali. I had a few minutes so I wandered out to the showroom to look at a midsize 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X I had seen on the dealership's website that I was curious about. It was mid-morning and they weren't busy and I had unknowingly walked up to the sales managers desk. He was friendly, polite, and asked if he could help and I explained that I was curious about the 2023 Canyon AT4X they had on their website, and if they had sold it. He directed me the vehicle I was asking about, which was gleamingly parked on the far side of the showroom, and said he'd send someone over. A moment later Bob Iaconi Jr. came over an introduced himself. He too was friendly, professional, and as I quickly came to realize, very knowledgable. We talked casually for a few minutes and he answered my questions. He offered a test drive, but as the vehicle was on the showroom floor, I initially declined. He advised it would not be a problem, and that he would happily get the vehicle out and ready. I thought about for a minute, called my wife, and she agreed to come to the dealership later that afternoon. We scheduled a time mid-afternoon, and when my wife and I arrived, the vehicle was ready to go. Bob joined us on the test drive, answered more questions, and by the time the test drive was finished, my wife and I were sold. There was no high pressure, no ridiculous sales tactics, just straight honest conversation and professionalism from Bob Iaconi and the team: sales manager, David Froemming; and finance, Derek Metoyer! I'm retired from the insurance industry and worked on the front lines, as well as in management for over three decades. In that time I had the opportunity to work in and with a number of really good efficient and professional teams. And unfortunately I had the misfortune to be a part of some of the worse, most dysfunctional teams imaginable. I can say with 100% confidence the individuals that comprised our GMC Canyon purchase experience are some of the absolute best I've ever had the pleasure of working with. They have earned my complete and absolute trust and I would recommend Bob Iaconi Jr as THE sales professional to go see. To Bob, David, and Derek: Thank you, it was a genuine pleasure! You are quite simply the definition of how to make the car buying experience enjoyable.
